Ingredients to make Baked Bauru Pie:
Baked bauru dough:
2 american cups of warm milk
2 tablets of yeast for bread
2 medium eggs
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
3 cups of all-purpose flour (more enough until you get the point)
salt to taste
1 egg yolk (to brush)
Bauru filling:
2 sliced medium tomatoes
1 large sliced onion
200 grams of sliced ham
200 grams of sliced mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of oregano
How to make Baked Bauru Pie:
Crumble the yeast with your hands, dissolve in warm milk and set aside for 5 minutes (to activate the yeast). Then blend this mixture in a blender along with the eggs and butter or margarine.
In a bowl mix the sifted flour with the salt and open a small hole in the center. Place the mixture in a blender and mix with your hands or with the help of an electric mixer until well incorporated into a consistent mass.
Transfer this salted bauru pie dough to a floured counter and knead, adding more flour if necessary, until you get a firm, smooth dough that comes off your hands. Shape into a ball, cover with a cloth and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
Then divide the oven bauru dough into two equal halves. Roll out one of these parts and place on a greased and floured baking sheet. Distribute the ham, mozzarella, tomato and onion stuffing in layers. Sprinkle the oregano and add a drizzle of oil.
Tip: The ideal is to open the dough until it is about 30 x 40 cm, ideal for using a baking sheet of this size (also called baking sheet No. 3).
Roll out the other half of the dough in the same way and place it in the form as well, covering the bauru filling. Press the ends to close the pie, cover again with a cloth or aluminum foil and set aside until doubled in volume (it may take from 30 minutes to 1 hour).
After the previous step, preheat the oven to 180ÂșC (medium oven). Brush the bauru pie with an egg yolk and, when the oven is at the indicated temperature, bake the pie for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
Your Bauru pie is ready, a delicious baked snack that can also be served as a casual lunch or dinner, hot or cold. Taste and let us know in the comments what you think, bon appetit!
